Project Brief

Stroods are a specialist contractor based in West Mersea, established in 1988, they work on refurbishments of properties and outdoor areas, such as leisure parks and hospital departments. Taydal have been working with Stroods for many years now on multiple projects.

The latest project Stroods have undertaken was refurbishing a popular pub within Colchester, Essex. Based in Highwoods, The Rovers Tye, is a large pub restaurant which was opened in 1983 and overdue a well needed makeover. Stroods asked for our assistance in laying a new asphalt car park.

The car park was an area of 1110 square meters and was riddled with potholes and

cracks in the previous material. Our friends at Steve Lumley helped us out by planing the area prior to us installing the asphalt. The material chosen for this carpark included a 40mm thick AC20 base course, topped with a 50mm thick 10mm SMA wearing course.

As the entire building was being refurbished, the carpark had a full closer around it, meaning our team could work without interruption. This install took 3 days in total, with the liners on site once we’d completed the install, giving the car park its finished look.
