L4 Civil Engineering Ltd are a long-term customer of Taydal’s, based in North Northamptonshire. They provide civil engineering works throughout the southeast of England, working on many housing developments, as well as private work and local government. They have been reaching out to Taydal for many years for quotes and installations at various sites.
Among the many jobs they have asked us to quote, one of the most recent works we’ve been awarded was an install in St Crispin’s Hospital, Northamptonshire. St Crispin’s Hospital was used as a psychiatric asylum in 1876, as well as serving as a military hospital in the First World War. It is currently being converted once more into a new housing development as well as a retirement village, after a large fire caused damage in 2015.
The work we were asked to carry out involved surfacing new pathways leading up a hill to what will be a new block of flats. The layout and groundworks for these were installed by L4 Civils, prior to us arriving on site. The material we laid was 40mm thick of AC6 wearing course, which is designed specifically for footpaths and less trafficked area. This material covered an area of 112 square meters in total, creating the new pathways and steps for this new development. In total, this took our team a single day to lay, leaving the pathways ready to use.
