SMA base course, SMA wearing course
Groupbridge Ltd, a civil engineering and building contractor based in Norfolk, recently appointed us to carry out various works based within Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge. This project involved laying SMA base and wearing course across a total area of 3,000 square meters. The works formed part of wider infrastructure improvements within the hospital grounds, aimed at enhancing the durability, safety, and functionality of key access routes and operational areas.
The scope of the project included the installation of SMA base and wearing courses across designated sections of the hospital site. The surfacing specification was selected to provide a robust, long-lasting finish capable of withstanding frequent vehicular traffic, including emergency vehicles.
As this project took place within an active healthcare environment, careful coordination and planning were essential. Maintaining access for hospital operations, staff, and emergency services was a key priority throughout the works. To minimise disruption, the surfacing programme was carefully phased and scheduled in collaboration with the client and site management team.
