DBM base course, SMA wearing course
Smith of Honingham are a building contractor based in Norfolk; they undertake all size projects from residential to multimillion-pound commercial projects. Established in 1919, they have 100 years within this industry and have become a well-recognised name within Norfolk and East Anglia. Taydal have had the pleasure of working with Smith of Honingham many times in the last 20 years and have a good working relationship with them.
The latest work we’re asked to undertake on behalf of Smith of Honingham was for a private customer, based in Church Lane, Alderford. This property had been recently built and required a new asphalt driveway to be installed. The driveway had a long entrance way from the road which lead back to the main drive area, in total the area equalled 311 square meters.
The material chosen for this driveway was a DBM base course, laid at 40mm thick, followed by a SMA wearing course at 35mm thick. This creates a durable, long-lasting surface for vehicles to be parked on regularly. The dense bitumen is ideal for parking areas and roads. The entire area took a single day for our gang to complete, leaving Smith of Honingham and the private customer very happy with the outcome.
